D +13

Had a nightmare day yesterday. Olivers hair is falling out everywhere, he won't let us anywhere near him with the electric clippers so his bed looks like a bears been sleeping in it! He had an enormous tantrum and threw various things around the room, I arrived to see Dave in the process of picking them up.
His Platelet count was 133K yesterday after the transfusion and is 110K today which is fine. His White cell count is now 0.12 and we can now differentiate between neutraphils and lymphocytes which is another step in the right direction. Although Ive been told that this can fluctuate and not to freak out too much if it drops a bit.
He still has a sore bottom and is having some tummy cramps so we are keeping an eye on that.
Have spoken to the Dietician and she is happy with the little he is eating at this stage of the game and that his weight is stable enough for him not to have to go on TPN (Total Parental Nutrition) through his Hickman line. His Magnesium levels were a bit low this morning so he has just had a top up whilst he is asleep.
We still have a long way to go and the days are incredibly long and hard for all of us but we are remaining positive and have faith in the doctors when they say he is doing well.

I guess Oliver is venting his frustration at what is happening to him and his solitude on those he loves most. (Save the hair, Geoff's need is greatest)! So he'll be a little peanut soon and as he's had it very short in the past, I suspect when it's all gone, that will resolve that issue and the bear will be gone! Good that the differentiation is showing with the N's & L's. That's my problem from the G & B I don't have enough neutrophils to combat things. Anyway, how's bubba? Did you see the midwife yet. You must be ready for some respite and I hear mums coming down. He'll behave when she's there and you could both do with a break. Can see he is progressing from your notes, so don't worry unnecessarily, if there not, you don't need to. His tummy cramps are probably due to lack of solids, which is what you would expect. Long days, hard nights but keep the mind focused on the future and how this will all be a distant memory and you will even raise a smile one day at some of the events taking place now. I hope you can keep all these notes to show Oliver when he's older, to remind him how he turned you all grey. Love you all loads & big kisses for the tasmanian devil Oliver XXXXXXXX Sue & Geoff xxx

Dear Debbie Dave and our little friend Oliver,
We wondered if Oliver has heard of "The Hair Fairy"? She helps to collect (shave) hair into a bag and then leaves ££££££££ for the good children. We know Dave can afford it now because of all the savings being made with the untility bills!!!! ha,ha lol!

OK, now i think Oliver is totally frustrated. He has been in that small room for 3 and a half weeks, its going to feel like a prison for him, and the way for him to cope is to go mental and take it out on those nearest and dearest because you put him there. He is a good little boy, so try not to get too upset with these bad days. Hope he has enjoyed seeing his Nanna today, and did he enjoy his SKIPS? The girls love to see his photos. Remember to stay focused you know why you are here, it is a tough l- o - n- g- drawn out journey, but i'm sure it will be worth it! You knew it was never going to be easy. We love you and miss you so much, Love Tracey, Richard Olivia, Gigi and Pips xxxxxx whooops i am now told its PHILIPPA! X.
